Syposium "Towards Evil Free Socity" at udupi

Syposium "Towards Evil Free Socity" at udupi

Corruption is growing rampant in the fields of education and medicine to religion. Growing 'evils' among the educated sections of society demands a reformation of the education system. Today what laws are required by society, who should be appointed a Lokayukta are all decided by corrupt individuals. Slogans and speeches alone cannot curb corruption, speaking at a program organised by Womens Wing, Jammat-E-Islami Hind on "Evil Free Society" at Lions Bhavan, Udupi, here on Sunday, December 18.

If we eliminate greed from society and are satisfied with what we have, all problems can be solved. To stop corruption we have to strengthen the moral values of a person. We should create an environment making corruption an offence and a sin. It is the responsibility of every citizen to raise his voice against all evils in society,

Towards an Evil-free Society’ Campaign by JIH

Towards an Evil-free Society’ Campaign by JIH
Press Conference

Udupi. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Karnataka will observe a week-long campaign ‘Towards Evil Free Society’ from Dec 9 to 18.
JIH state advisory committee member Akbarl Ali, speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Dec 8 said that the campaign was aimed at creating awareness about eradicating corruption from the society. “More than legislation, it is fear of the Almighty and a sense of accountability which can curb the corrupt practices,” he opined.  The campaign would also highlight other evils prevailing in the society, he added.
"Our society today is teeming with many evils. Corruption has reached unprecedented proportions and is all-pervasive. Scams are unfolding on a regular basis and the sums involved are so staggering that  the common man cannot even comprehend its magnitude. India ranks 4th in the list of most corrupt countries according to a recent survey. Greed has become the creed of our system today, affecting all sections of society and it is best exemplified by the people who wield power – politicians and corporates alike. An ordinary citizen cannot get his due rights without bribing the officials," he lamented.

As the economy grows, poverty and depravation are also on the rise. Violence, injustice, oppression and discrimination are commonplace. Dishonesty, deception, duplicity, adulteration, black marketing and such other unhealthy practices are shortcuts for quick money. Nepotism, exploitation, blackmail, lack of accountability and transparency are rife in public office. Criminalization of politics, commercialization of  education and corporatization of the economy is ever-rising, he further said.
"There is growing public anger, frustration and restlessness that have found expression in movements like the India Against Corruption. At this juncture, it is the duty of every citizen to recognize the gravity of the situation and act responsibly to reform the society, especially in eradication of  corruption from our country.
The programmes during campaign include Screening of documentary films, symposia, distribution of literature, public meetings, and door-to-door meetings.
'Towards Evil-free Society' especially focuses on the menace of corruption and means to overcome it by way of meetings, rallies, symposia and lectures held throughout the state. Folders and booklets are being distributed on a large scale.
JIH Udupi assistant convener U Shabbir Ahammed Malpe, JIH Karnataka state women’s wing member Kulsum Abubakker, JIH Udupi district women’s wing convener Sameen Shukur, JIH Udupi district secretary Anvar Ali, Idris Hoode and Mohammed Marakada were present at the press meet.
